Help fight hunger Friday. "Empty Bowls" is a fundraiser for Good Shepherd Center and Mother Hubbard's Cupboard. It's from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church activity center – 1939 Independence Blvd. A minimum donation is $15. For tickets, call 763-4424, ext. 101.

The Sea Notes Choral Society will perform its spring concert this weekend. Friday's show is at "Hatch Auditorium" in the NC Baptist Assembly at Caswell Beach starting at 8 p.m. Sunday's show is at 3:00 pm. The concerts are free.

The North Carolina Black Film Festival is this weekend at the Cameron Art Museum. Tickets are $5 per screening or $25 for the whole festival. The schedule is at

Flock on over to Battleship Park Saturday for the annual Budweiser Wing Fling. Tickets are $15 for general admission or $25 for VIP. 21 and up only. To buy tickets, log onto

You and your best friend can get some exercise Saturday morning. So grab your dog and head to Holly Tree Elementary School for a "Best Friends" one mile walk or 5k run. The entry fee is $10 or $25 for a family of three or more. It starts at 10 a.m.

The Wilmington Woman's Club is holding its 31st annual Coastal Living Show. It's at the Cape Fear Community College Schwartz Center. Hours Saturday are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets are $4.

You can learn about the area's farming history this weekend. Southern Farm Days is Saturday and Sunday at the Boys and Girls Home in Lake Waccamaw. Hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.

Lace up your running shoes. The inaugural Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon is Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. sharp. The 26.2 mile marathon starts at Wrightsville Beach and winds through Landfall. The entry fee runs between $70 and $95

The Azalea Festival Children's Tea is Sunday at St. Thomas Preservation Hall.
The mother daughter event starts at 3:30 p.m. Hello Kitty and Azalea Belles will be there.

Recently engaged and overwhelmed? The Southern Cape Fear Bridal Expo is Sunday at the Southport Community Building. Every bride will received a southern Cape Fear coast wedding planner. Admission is $5 per person. Hours are from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
