Mark your calendars, there's a spring barbeque Friday. It will be held at the Willarlea Community building from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be barbeque and chicken plates for $7each. Proceeds will be used throughout Pender County.

If you enjoy watching movies, you can come on out to the battleship North Carolina Friday night and watch movies underneath the stars on the fantail. Tickets are $2 per person. They go on sale at 7:30 p.m. Chairs will be provided, but you can also bring your own camp chairs and blankets. Popcorn and drinks will be on sale. The festivities kick off at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, history comes alive at the battleship. You can watch and interact with World War 2 history interpreters as they re-enact daily duties and drills on the battleship. It's free to get in with regular battleship admission. The re-enactment is from 8 a.m. to 5 pm.

The U.S. Coast Guard Diligence is hosting the 17th annual Diligence dash 5K Saturday. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Diligence on Water Street. Registration begins at 7 a.m.

Come out for the Rockin on the River weekend bash. This benefit concert is for Thomas King who has Hischsprungs disease and needs a small bowel transplant. There will be pig and chicken picking, a poker run, boat rides, river tours, auction, raffles and live music. The benefit is at 487 Blossom Ferry Road in Castle Hayne. Gates open at noon on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. There will be a $10 donation entry fee.

Walk for a cause Saturday at the second annual Reach The Beach fundraiser. There will be a 5K, a one mile fun run, live music, food, and a silent auction. All the fun will be at the Wrightsville Beach Town Park John Nesbitt Loop. The fun is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. You can go to to register.

Saturday head out to the Hampstead Kiwanis Park to celebrate Hampstead. There will be handcrafted merchandise sold. There will also be live music, food vendors, and children's activities. The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Run for Mom Sunday at the Mother's Day 5K at Greenfield Lake Park. It starts at 8 a.m. The actual 5K will start at 8-30 a.m. Awards will be given out to the top male and female runners.
