If you are entertaining family and friends for the holiday weekend, you don't have to keep them indoors. There are a few things going on this weekend, including an exhibit for the kid in all of us. The sounds of African drums and songs will fill the air in Wilmington Saturday. That's when the Bellamy Mansion will hold its Second Annual Jonkunnu Celebration. Jonkuunu is a traditional African-American celebration that was brought to America by slaves in the 1740s. It runs from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Identity theft is a common crime, especially this time of year. One way to keep your identity secure is to shred your personal documents. Join News Channel 3 Saturday for Shred Day, held at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington. The folks from Cintas will be on hand to shred your stuff for free from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Do not forget to bring all your used boxes and wrapping paper. If you are a fan of toys, you can go toy crazy this weekend at the Cameron Art Museum. A diverse selection of toys and games from Star Wars, Transformers to Japanese toys will be on display. If you don't make it this weekend, no worries, the exhibit runs until March 1, 2009. Sunday night, enjoy an evening of jazz and blues. Musicians will perform traditional and contemporary jazz at the Hannah Block Historic USO Community Arts Center. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. It runs from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. You can always find out what's happening by going to our Community Calendar page.
