It is Memorial Day weekend and if you're saving on gas and staying close to home, never fear, there is plenty to keep you and the family entertained. If the beach isn't on your list of places to go, there is plenty going on to get you out and about. Friday night, who's bad? You are, if you don't catch the Michael Jackson tribute concert at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series. The music starts at 6 pm in Riverfront Park on Water Street in downtown Wilmington. Just across town, more music for the ears. It's the fourth annual Mayfaire Music on the Town concert series. The free concert takes place Friday evening at 6 pm. Coolers are welcome. The first 100 people will receive a free goodie bag. Kristy Yamaguchi won ABC's dancing with the stars, and now it's your chance to cheer on local actors in Wilmington's version of the show. Saturday, raise a "Toast to the Coast" at Hugh MacRae Park in Wilmington. You will experience 16 wineries, savory local cuisine and live entertainment ranging from the sea pans to Jim Quick and the Coastline. It runs from 12 pm until 6 pm. Tickets range from $22 to $29. Saturday and Sunday, it's your chance to experience the 13th annual Orange Street Artsfest. It takes place between Front and Second Streets in downtown Wilmington. More than 50 artists will be there selling ceramics, jewelry, painting photos and more. It is open from 10 am until 6 pm Saturday and 10 am until 5 pm Sunday. Saturday, experience the excitement of athletes on the water. The Carolina Wake Series Uprising Tour takes place at Riverside Park in Castle Hayne. Watch professional, semi-pro, and local wake boarders compete in an east coast wakeboarding tournament. It runs from 8 am until 8 pm. Also on Saturday, Summerfest takes place in Rocky Point. There will be plenty of kid's activities, horse rides, hay rides, inflatable slides, vendors and much more. It runs from 11 am until 4 pm. Call 264-1528 for more information.
