Whiteville teen missing

READ MORE: Whiteville teen missing
WHITEVILLE -- A 14-year-old Whiteville boy has been missing for more than a week. Police are concerned this may be more than a typical runaway case. The last time anyone saw Rashad Dalemez Jones was last Monday, after he told his grandmother he was going for a bike ride. Police are concerned that he may be in danger, because of reports in the community that the missing teen knows something about a deadly shooting in lake Waccamaw following a high school football game. Jones is five-foot-five, 120 pounds, with black hair set in twists. Jones also has a birthmark above his lip that appears to be a faded white mark. He was last seen near Stanley Circle in Whiteville. Thanksgiving day, his bike was found in a ditch less than half a mile away from his grandmother's house, but no sign of Jones. Mabalene Moody is the missing teen's mother. She said, "They treated it like a crime scene whenever they got up to the bike. He let the dog out to sniff the bike to see if he could get a scent and there was nothing there." Since Jones's disappearance residents have reported possibly seeing him around Columbus County and Whiteville, but so far, none of the sightings have panned out. While there's no concrete evidence linking Jones to that shooting in September, the Columbus County Sheriff's Office is investigating his disappearance. If you see Jones or know where he is, call the sheriff's office at 910-642-6551. You can also call the CUE Center for Missing Persons, which is helping search for Jones. Their phone number is 910-343-1131.

Wake Up

Well as far as good old Columbus County the law system sucks big time. And No Im not trying to play the racial game but why have there been 3 killings in the past year in columbus county and still their cases are basically COLD CASES. All Im saying is three innocent people are dead for what reason. My prayes go out to the family.

why can't columbus county

why can't columbus county treat this missing child like they do others. it's a shame to know you living in a county thats all about one race(white). because this is a black child missing they don't care.they didn't treat the case of the little white kid that was missing like this. they searched and searched until they found the body. if the child was a runaway he would of called somebody by now.god put us all here to love one another regardless of race. i have black and whites in my family . i love them all the same. we need a better law system that's not about race. i'm ashame to tell anybody that i live in columbus county. my heart and prayers go out to this family and i pray to god that your child is safe and maybe hiding for his safety. i been praying to god that this child is safe. i have a son this child age too and even if i didn't i would feel the same because i know the lord.

MISSING CHILD

Where is the W.P.D.; the FBI; the SBI; and everybody and anybody that should be concerned???, when you need them!!! They are so busy searching for the person(s) that set the fire to the rescue squad; what's more important! They should be looking for this "young missing 14 year old child"! Let's put ourselves in this 'devastated' woman's shoes and give her the support she needs so that she can find her son! IT COULD BE 'YOUR' CHILD MISSING!!! AND IF IT WAS, YOU WOULD BE BEGGING FOR HELP! I am a concerned citizen, a mother and grandmother, voluntering my support to help find 'Rashed Delamez Jones'. PLEASE SUPPORT US IN THIS SEARCH! THANKS!!! TO THE 'CUE CENTER FOR THE MISSING'

MISSING CHILD

WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ABOUT RACE? IF YOU SIT AND THINK ABOUT IT THE WHITE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE OR MAKE THINGS ALL ABOUT THE RACE ISSUE. MAYBE YOU NEED TO THINK OF THE GANGS AND THE BLACKS FIGHTING THE BLACKS. ALSO IT WASN'T THE LAW INFORCEMENT THAT SEARCHED FOR THE (WHITE) CHILD THAT WAS MISSING. IT WAS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THE (WHITE) CHILD AND HIS FAMILY HAS ALOT OF FAMILY AND FRIEND IN COLUMBUS COUNTY. MAYBE YOU NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!!!

TO WHOM EVER TYPED THAT COMMENT

NO ONE REALLY BLAMED IT ON THE RACE ISSUE . AND YOU HAVE A NERVE 1ST OFF ITS NOT JUST BLACK ON BLACK PROBLEMS ITS ALL TYPES OF COLORS FIGHTING EACH OTHER. YOU MUST HAVE A NERVE PUTING THAT UP THERE AND YOU ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE NEED TO STOP SAYING EVERYTHING ON EARTH IS GANG RELATED BUT YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO SPEAK LIKE EVERY ONE ELSE AND SO DO I, HE WAS SOMEONE I LOVED VERY DEARLY AND HE WAS CLOSE TO MY HEART ANT THAT WAS DIS-RESPECTFUL PUTING (WHITE) AS HIS RACE BUT HE IS BLACK THAT IS WHAT HIS MOTHER AND FATHER ARE SO IF YOU WOULD PLEASE MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!!!!

THE FAMILY

We the family thank you for your concern, thoughts and prayers. Not at anytime do we not recognize the hardwork and efforts of the Missing Person Orgainization in Wilmington. We would like to have more news coverage in effort to keep this in the public to increase the chance of bring him safely. The issue here is not about black and white. It's about coming together and bringing our loved one home. Yes, Columbus County continue to have racial issues, but all the families wants is for the one we pay tax dollars to protect and serve us--- communicate and keep the mother updated...make her feel that this is as urgent to them as it is to her. And to you :Unknown. Gangs are not just Black fighting Blacks. There are all types of Gangs of different races--in your own words MAYBE YOU NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!!!

Bingo------That's the bottom line!

BINGO-----That's the bottom line--It's about coming together and bringing our loved one home. You need to have all your family, friend and concerned citizens come together to form search teams. The CUE Center out of Wilmington is great with the search teams. Instead of wasting time on small issues GET BUSY!!!

MISSING YOU!!

I MISS YOU SO MUCH DELAMEZ...LOVE ALWAYS NANA

i hope that this does not go

i hope that this does not go as a cold case because this is a black child. we must remember that columbus county is predominately white and they will do for their own. In this county it is who you know not what you know. I have worked for two of the county agencies and luckily have been treated respectfully. My prayers are for the family that he returns home safely and if anything I hope that he is hiding somewhere because he is scared.

cold case

there you go again. making this a racial thing. get a life. if nobody cared it wouldn't be plastered all over the newspapers and the internet.go try and find something else to stir up trouble about. maybe the 1898 race riots or the reparations program. just some suggestions.

Race

Come on. Now if this kid has been taken to Mexico and is never found, people will be saying it's cause the white police pushed it aside to worry about sally and her missing jump rope. The law is fair and balanced, regardless of who is the victim. The sooner you realize that and quit having pity parties in your basement the better the world will be.

HEY??

Whats up with all this 'THEY' stuff? People are people dear. That is no kind of attitude to have. I'm sure the police look just as hard, whoever it is that is missing... sheesh!!

Delamez

As much as I would like the world to be a perfect place, it is not. I am a resident who just moved from Columbus County to Charlotte, and one of the reasons why is because of the "Good ole Boy" system that still exists in Columbus County. I am sure that this missing boy's case has not been treated the same as other cases, but such is life.People really are in denial if they think that people don't get special treatment because of race/status in Columbus County. Chris Batten promises to tighten up whenever an incident happens, and he does for about a week, then it's back to normal. No more license checks, no more beefed up security, or patroling. I am glad to be gone. Rashad Delamez was a friend of my son's, and he should've been protected. Rest in peace, angel.
