Williston students practice random act of kindness

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Paying it forward. Making a difference.

Students at Williston Middle School in Wilmington showed their parents just how much they appreciate them this morning. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders were out bright and early before class passing out bottled water and breakfast to the parents in the car pool line.

"I know how hard some of these parents work, and it feels good to be able to help them out, 'cause I know what it's like every morning, and they really deserve," Williston SGA President Sophie Whisnant said.

The students say their parents do a lot for their school, so the students decided to do a random act of kindness and pay them back.

"It's a nice thing, because the parents come every morning making sure their kids get here on time, and some of them don't have to grab breakfast before they leave out, so it's kind of nice to give them something before they went on to work," student Tyrek Murry said.

Everyone can practice a random act of kindness on October 23. That's National Make a Difference Day.

Bottled water? Uh-oh.....

The green Nazis will probably be calling at the school by Monday. According to the enviroloons, purchasing bottled water is right up theer with shooting porpoises and pouring waste oil into storm drains.

Paying it forward

That is so excellent. I wish all the schools would incorporate something like this, even out into the community. It teaches them a really good lesson and give them a really good feeling about themselves. They will carry these lessons thru life and become better adults.
Good job Williston students!
