Wilmington Christian Academy celebrates 40 years of education with food drive

As part of its birthday celebration, one local school is holding a food drive of its own. The Wilmington Christian Academy is holding a Thank You Wilmington Picnic this weekend to celebrate forty years of education. In return for a non-perishable food donation, those in attendance will receive a free lunch. Donations from the picnic will go to the Yahweh Center, Salvation Army, and School Creations Incorporated. Wilmington Christian Academy administrator Barren Nobles said, “There are so many people that are hurting and we figured this would be a good way to help support agencies whose funding may have been cut due to the economic budget problems. These are organizations that we believe in.” The picnic takes place Sunday from noon until 3:00 p.m. at 1401 North College Road. There will be an art show, musical performances and a special recognition for military veterans at 2:00 p.m.
