Wilmington radio host sued by former Raleigh mayor

A candidate for state Republican Party Chair is suing a Wilmington radio host and his station's owner. In an e-mail sent Tuesday night, Tom Fetzer said he is suing Big Talker FM host Curtis Wright and Sea-Comm Media because of an e-mail he said Wright sent Republican leaders last month. The former Raleigh mayor said Wright forwarded an anonymous letter that claimed Fetzer is gay. Fetzer denies the allegation. Sea-Comm's general manager, Paul Knight, said Fetzer's claim has no merit. He also said this is just part of doing talk radio. "You expect to have people file lawsuits against you. You expect to have people say things about you. And so this is not something that we are tremendously surprised about," Knight added. Wright would not talk about the lawsuit because as of this morning he had not been served with it. Sea-Comm's GM said the station and Wright plan to file a motion to dismiss the suit Friday.
