The City of Wilmington may be looking for a new developer to build the convention center hotel. Wilmington River Group, the developer of choice, had until Friday to come up with a one million dollar line of credit ensuring they could complete Hotel Indigo. The group came up with a note, but it was not good enough for city attorney Tom Pollard, so they missed the deadline yet again. A city spokeswoman said the council will discuss options for moving forward in October.

Why?

Why is the city chasing this developer that can't seem to get it together? Who on the city council is related to somebody in the river group? Notice how no other hotel is wanting to come in? Maybe because they know convention centers do nothing but lose money. The one in Raleigh is losing money as is the one in Charlotte. I'm sure ours will be different from theirs.

So should we vote for Justin

So should we vote for Justin LaNassa in the next election. Because last election, it was current political hack vs former political hack. Was JUSTIN LANASSA Truly are best option?????

Convention center hotel

I am in favor of continuing the endless extensions as long as the developer will agree to build a seaplane ramp down at the river. That way, they can rent parking space in the largely vacant airplane hanger that the city has insisted on building- despite protests from people who are in touch with reality.

Poor business plan

King Billy and his court are a bunch of incompetent buffoons! The only motel chain that may taking them up on an offer is the MOTEL 6! I do not expect much success in their effort to find someone to sign on with them. This convention center will be an absolute failure and will eventually become a burden for the taxpayers. Most convention centers do not even break even! These CLOWNS defied everyone that presented them with evidence showing them that convention centers are not that practical anymore. This convention center was rammed down the citizen's throats!

what a waste

we need a hotel downtown as much as we need the convention center built by saffo building group who is building the convention center and wants more money so he wants a hotel, and he thinks people will vote for him.... hardy har just like people would vote mike easley aka theif of a governor

Once again...

the "selected" developer fails to live up to their agreement. "The group came up with a note, but it was not good enough for city attorney Tom Pollard, so they missed the deadline yet again." >What...no note from Mommy?! How long will our "elected" leaders continue this farce? It's time to cut them loose. This "white elephant" is going to be a fiscal drain as it is. Has anyone published the names of the owners of Wilmington River Group? I wonder how many ties they have to council members such as Quinn or Saffo?

Missed Deadline

Like I have said in other comments, forget about the convention center and put the money where it is needed more. The way I understand the Wilmington River Group has their friends on city council that keeps giving them more and more time. Why are they waiting until October to discuss this? Maybe they are waiting until the city attorney to retire because he seems to be the only one that knows what is going on.
