WILMINGTON -- A Wilmington substance abuse clinic is expanding to help treat more adults who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction.
Administrators at the Wilmington treatment center broke ground on a new clinical facility this morning.
Staff say the closing of smaller treatment facilities in our area is a reason for the expansion.
The new treatment wing will include more group rooms and offices for staff.
On average patients live on-site for about 20 eight days.
Director of marketing Mandy Anderson-Ille said, "One in four Americans have a substance abuser in their family, so if we can just touch on a small part of that and make peoples lives better, it's a beautiful feeling at the end of the day"
The center currently has 93 clients. The new building will be finished by next year, allowing for an additional 60 patients.
