Wilmington substance abuse clinic expands

READ MORE:
WILMINGTON -- A Wilmington substance abuse clinic is expanding to help treat more adults who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. Administrators at the Wilmington treatment center broke ground on a new clinical facility this morning. Staff say the closing of smaller treatment facilities in our area is a reason for the expansion. The new treatment wing will include more group rooms and offices for staff. On average patients live on-site for about 20 eight days. Director of marketing Mandy Anderson-Ille said, "One in four Americans have a substance abuser in their family, so if we can just touch on a small part of that and make peoples lives better, it's a beautiful feeling at the end of the day" The center currently has 93 clients. The new building will be finished by next year, allowing for an additional 60 patients.

Substance Abuse Treatment Services

Congratulations to the staff at the Wilmington Treatment Center for their efforts on behalf of those who suffer from addiction. Since the cut back in services has effected so many, it is good to see there are facilities, and people, who are trying to help people be well and productive again. Being a recovery alcoholic, I know how important good treatment is to our efforts. Also, having worked in the field of addiction for 20+ year, we need every kind of service and level of care it is possible to provide to our community and those in need of treatment. I certainly hope they make enough money to keep their services available.

making money off sorrow

another for profit mill expanding to make money off of a real problem in our community. I am sure that the least among us who really need to services..those without insurance, means and social serices will have their needs met here.

Guess it just goes to show....

...that there's no future in being a drunk or a druggie. Life's tough, but it's tougher when you're weak and stupid. But...look at it this way - if a business can figure out a way to make a dime off these bums, well, at least they'll be serving SOME function in society beyond public urinators and professional panhandlers.
