WILMINGTON -- A Wilmington trucker is dead after an incident at a Virginia truck stop. Gerald Brown of Wilmington was eating lunch at a truck stop in Skippers, Virginia on Tuesday when he was stabbed. The suspect ran from police, but was later caught. Brown had worked for Horizon Tank Lines of Leland for several years. His former boss, Paul Collie, says he'll be missed. Collie said, "We're all shocked and in disbelief that this happened. Gerald was one of the best drivers you could ever hope to work with -- winner of our driver of the year award. [He] trained our new drivers. Just an excellent professional to work with." Collie says the company will honor Brown by leaving his truck parked outside with a white bow on it for the rest of the week. Police say it's still unclear what prompted the stabbing.
