WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Thanksgiving is a great day for eating as long as you have food, and many people do not. Enter WRAAP, a non-profit that finds ways to help folks in need.
For the fourth year in a row WRAAP director Daryl Dockery put resources from the North Carolina Food Bank together with the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. The result: free food.
WRAAP employees and volunteers expect to pass out more than 13,000 pounds of food to folks in need. This year, there is a high demand.
"I'm out here trying to get some food for my granddaughters that I am taking care of," Barbara Jinwright said. "When I heard about this on the news this morning, it was just a blessing."
Dockery says WRAAP plans to do it all over again next year. The main outreach of WRAAP is educating at-risk youth.
