READ MORE: Wright has cast fewer votes than any House member

RALEIGH (AP) -- Representative Thomas Wright has missed more votes this year than any other regular House member.

An analysis shows Wright has been absent for about one-fifth of the legislative session, that's 17 days. Only the House Speaker, who by tradition votes only when required, cast fewer votes.

The Wilmington Democrat has been paid the standard $104 per day expense payment even on the days he missed, according to the legislative payroll office.

Wright is being investigated after elections officials say he failed to report $220,000 in campaign contributions.

The investigation into Wright's campaign funds has led Democrats and Republicans to call for his resignation. But Wright has said he's done nothing wrong and doesn't plan to step down.
