WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- A post-Halloween treat for visitors to Wrightsville Beach. Town parking enforcement has put away the tickets.
Yesterday was the last day that paid parking was enforced. Collectors were out emptying the meters for the final time today.
The seasonal rate is two dollars per hour, but starting today, you can park for free at Wrightsville Beach.
"It is really nice being able to park here," Wrightsville Beach resident Oliver Evans said. "I kind of wish it was October 1. That would make more sense, because that's more when the off-season starts, but it is November 1 now, so we can all park here. It is our parking lot now. No more tickets at 9:00 in the morning.>
You can enjoy free parking at Wrightsville Beach until the end of February. As of March 1, the meters will be back in effect.

It's bad enough that we have to pay to re - nourish the beach
It's bad enough that we have to pay to re - nourish the beach protecting your private property, then you charge us $2/hour to access our own property (the beach we pay for). There will always be a place where the land meets the sea.
Parking at WB is a joke.
Parking at WB is a joke. They didn't get one cent from me all year. I walked or rode my bike everytime I went to the beach. I will continue to go there but they will never get another cent from me.
Thank You so much for
Thank You so much for letting us enjoy the beach free of charge during the coldest months of the year (sarcasm)
Wow, thanks Wrightsville Beach (sarcasm)
for doing us a favor and not charging us $20 a day to park and enjoy the beach.....
