The high school football season started last Friday night. Every Wednesday on news channel 3 we will honor a WWAY Chick-fil-A Player of the Week. The first recipient of the season is not a chick. Instead, he is an eagle from East Bladen. The East Bladen vs. Green Sea Floyds high School football game last Friday was supposed to be close. It was not. Brandon Robinson rushed 10 times, scored 3 touchdowns and the eagles won 47 to 8 in their season opener. As a result, Brandon is our Chick-fil-A Player of the Week. "Well, the first drive they scored on us in two plays. Then coach told us to keep our heads up. Second play of the game I broke away for 70 yards," said Robinson. East Bladen head coach Lenon Fisher said, "He's got good speed, not outstanding speed. He's got good speed and he's got excellent vision. He reads the blocking well in front of him and he makes his cuts and he stays with his blocking as well as any player I've ever coached." That is a great compliment considering coach Fisher has coached a lot of great running backs including most recently Kevin Richardson, whose jersey was retired at East Bladen just a few months ago. So congratulations to Brandon Robinson, the WWAY Chick-fil-A Player of the Week. Join us Friday night at 11:00 for high school football highlights on The Fifth Quarter.
