A Bladen County woman is dead after being hit by at least one car last night. Investigators say 50-year-old Ezellas Allen was hit on Highway 87 in the Carver's Creek Community of Bladen County by a car that took off then was hit by several more cars as she lay helpless in the middle of the road.
Allen's father Perry Bowen dropped her off at the road leading to her house around 8 p.m. Sunday. That was the last time he saw his daughter.
Just before 2 a.m. police received a call that someone was dead along Highway 87. Family members say they're not sure why Allen was in the middle of the road, but they're not sure she ever made it to her house.
Allen leaves behind her parents, several siblings and two sons.
Highway Patrol, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Bladen County Sheriff's Office are investigating. If you know anything about what happened, call investigators at (910) 862-6960.
