WWAY Hurricane Memories Forum Tonight

Don't forget tonight is the WWAY Hurricane Memories Forum. WWAY NewsChannel 3 and Cape Fear Museum invite area residents to share hurricane stories, photographs, and artifacts with the community during the Cape Fear Hurricane Memories Forum, Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Museum. Throughout the evening, reporters from WWAY NewsChannel 3 will record residents telling their hurricane memories. These video oral histories will become part of the Museum’s research collection and may be used as part of a WWAY series on storms. Museum curatorial staff will be on hand to examine hurricane memorabilia that participants are willing to donate to the Museum’s permanent collection. Cape Fear Museum collects objects that help tell the stories unique to our region. WWAY meteorologist Sonya Stevens will give brief remarks on the local history of hurricanes and answer questions on the subject. Light refreshments will be served. Anyone who has been affected by a hurricane in the Lower Cape Fear Region is encouraged to attend and bring any artifacts, photos, or home movies of storms they wish to share. This event will produce a significant record of local history, and give residents the opportunity to share with one another their Cape Fear hurricane memories.
