Kids from Wilmington's southeastern pre-school education center celebrated their month today. Governor Mike Easley declared April "the month of the young child." Today, SPEC preschoolers marched in their courtyard to show off some of their artwork. Each child made their own t-shirt especially for the parade. SPEC assistant director Pam Bordeaux said the showcase helps boost morale. “It gives them more self esteem, more ability to be who they are and produce their self one day,” said Bordeaux. The month of the young child is observed in several other states, too. It's meant to remind everyone that all children need special care and attention.
