WILMINGTON (AP) — Five Virginia Commonwealth players scored in double digits, led by Jesse Pellot-Rosa’s 18 points, as the Rams beat UNC Wilmington 78-to-68 tonight.
Eric Maynor and B-A Walker each scored 15 points, Jamal Shuler added 13, and Will Fameni contributed ten in the balanced attack.
Todd Hendley led the Seahawks with 15 points. Temi Soyebo had 14 points and Dejan Grkovic added 10.
Virginia Commonwealth led 38-to-33 at halftime and opened that lead as Shuler scored nine consecutive points midway through the second half. UNC Greensboro closed the game back to 65-61 with just over two minutes remaining, but the Rams hit eleven straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
The win snapped Virginia Commonwealth’s ten-game losing streak in Wilmington.
