The family of a murdered Wilmington man is speaking out. Emmit Irving, or Cinque, as his friends and family know him, was shot Saturday night in front of his Grace Street home. Irving's friends say he had been repeatedly threatened by gang members. They say he was not in a gang himself, and was a family man, devoted to his 17-month-old daughter, Jada. Family members say they knew Blood gang members were making threats against Irving. The family says they think they know who did this, but would not reveal names. Irving moved to Grace Street about six months ago, and according to his family, he had to pay Blood gang members $1,500 a week to live on that side of town. When asked why, they said they did not know. The family says it repeatedly asked for help from police to protect Irving, but it never came. Ahneekah Salley, Irving's cousin, said, "I mean, it's just sad. Because we went for help and we didn't get anything we didn't get nothing. He's gone now and we went to the authorities for help." Irving was gunned down in front of his home just before midnight on Saturday. Police say Irving was approached by the shooter as he got out of his car. A Wilmington police spokesperson says a team of investigators is handling this homicide, but, they have had difficultly getting information. So far, no arrests have been made. Also, they say they can't verify Irving's aunt's calls for protection.

I went to school with Cinque and when I heard the news I was shocked and hurt at the same time. All I could think of was he has never bothered anyone. He was the type that you would see at any given time with a smile on his face and going about his business. I am sorry for the entire family and hope to God that the people or person that has taken this innocent person’s life has sleepless nights and a miserable life. I also hope that they are caught because things like this cannot keep happening to out good people. Eb you keep your head up and be strong for you and that girl. You know in your heart that Cinque had nothing but love for you and his daughter. Keep his memory alive and know that he is with you. JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED.

I am sorry for the death of your LOVE ONE. These crimes have got to stop. You all in the community need to come together and form a group and work together. Start video taping, recording conversations, having meetings and take back your neighborhoods. Even if it means turning your own children in. At least you will know where they are at and only your family will be hurt and not other families. I hate to even think that the police didnt help. i could believe that if you all went to Sid Causey with the problem but if you all went to Evangelous ((police chief) I probably mispelled his name.) I had faith that he would help. I am not being funny but where would someone have $1500.00 weekly extra? That is half of my home monthly mortgage payment. If you all want your neighborhoods back that ACTION…. Turn the people that committed this crime names in…..

    Warm summer sun,
    Shine kindly here,
    Warm southern wind,
    Blow softly here.
    Green sod above,
    Lie light,lie light.
    Good night,dear heart,
    Good night, good night.

    Death,be not proud

Death,be not proud, though some have called thee
    Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasures; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul’s delivery.
thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell’st thou then?
One short sleep past,we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death,Death, thou shalt DIE….

I have to keep commenting on the shooting death of CQ. If you can overstand, and I use that word because understanding it is not possible, then this would not have happen. CQ was a good man. When he lost his mother, he did not go out and blame the world. He manned-up and kept on living. He kept his mothers house, stayed in school, and stayed off the streets. He found the love of his life and created his baby girl whom he love dearly. Ready to begin his new life with his girlfriend and child and know it’s over!!!!! Why didn’t the POLICE DO SOMETHING! They can’t. So what’s next? OVERSTAND!!!!!!! WE MISS U, WE LOVE U and WE WILL NEVER FORGET U RIP AUNTEY B
