If spooky is not your scene, take the family to enjoy all the rides, including eight new ones at the Cape Fear Fair and Expo. This year the fair at Wilmington International Airport features clear-span tents, replacing the old big top style tents that used to house agricultural and commercial exhibits and livestock. That means there are no poles in the middle of the tents, giving them a more wide-open feel. Cape Fear Fair manager, Skip Watkins, said, "We spent a lot more money, a lot more money to improve the quality. We call it ‘elevate the offering’. So our agricultural tent and our commercial tent have gone to the higher technology, just like we’ve got wide-screen now, here we have new tents." The fair is also going green this year. The company that runs the rides now uses LED lights, which use less energy and bio-diesel in the generators. Tonight is Midnight Madness at the fair. It is open until 2:00 a.m.
