Elsewhere, the New Hanover boys will host Ashley in the opening round in a #3 vs. #6 match up of the Mideastern Conference on Tuesday at 7:30. Laney, which beat Ashley Thursday night and ruined senior night for the Eagles, is the #4 seed and will host White Oak on Tuesday in their quarter-final game at 7:30. Ashley will be playing for their ticket to the NCHSAA playoffs. They, unlike Hoggard and New Hanover who are guaranteed a bid, must win the conference tournament to earn an automatic bid; otherwise, Laney will be in. The Hoggard boys host West Brunswick at 7pm on Tuesday.

On the girls’ side, New Hanover handed Hoggard their first conference loss on Thursday and just their second loss of the season. Morgan King tallied 21 points as the Cats wrapped up the #2 seed in the conference tournament next week. The Cats will host West Brunswick Tuesday at 6pm. Hoggard still finished first and earned a bye for their efforts. Laney moved up to #3 after a slow start and the Bucs will host White Oak at 6pm. Ashley, the 5 seed, will be on the road Tuesday when they play at #4 Jacksonville at 7pm.
