CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (AP) — A Marine with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is receiving the Bronze Star for his actions while he was deployed in Afghanistan.

Officials at Camp Lejeune say First Sgt. Christopher J. Adams of Fox Company, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd MEU, is scheduled to receive a Bronze Star with a Combat Distinguishing Device, which is added for acts of valor. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday.

The award says that, during combat action on Nov. 16, 2009, Adams responded to a squad leader’s call for help. Three days later, he was met for the second time by enemy fire and responded with his own. Adams then provided help for the innocent victims of the combat.
