WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Sharks had to wait a couple hours longer than they anticipated, but they picked up their first win of the season (1-3) in a 4-0 win in game two of a Coastal Plain League doubleheader against the Morehead City Marlins (1-3) after falling 3-2 in game one.

In the opener the Sharks pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth after hits by Justyn Carter and Ricardo Lizcano to start the inning before they scored on an RBI single by Aaron Preston and a bases-loaded RBI walk by Alex Freedman. However, the lead was not secure, as the visiting Marlins answered with two runs in the top of the sixth before plating the eventual game-winning run in the seventh after a leadoff walk.

The second game turned into a great pitchers dual, with Nick Sequila (1-0) earning the win for the Sharks after tossing six shutout innings while allowing only three hits and striking out six Marlins batters.
Wilmington got on the board with a pair of runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Casey Allison’s two-RBI single that came with two outs. Two insurance runs came in the bottom of the sixth, when Scott Colman walked before scoring on Emilio Pagon’s RBI double before Tommy Houmard followed Pagon with an RBI double of his own to cap the scoring. The game two win also gave Sharks head coach Chris Youngberg his first win with Wilmington.

The Sharks are back in action on Friday night, June 3, when they host the Florence Redwolves in a 7 p.m. matchup with Taco Bell postgame fireworks. The game is also American Heart Association Night and Chevy Night.
