WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man charged with leading Wilmington Police on a high-speed chase through downtown Wednesday made his first appearance in court today.
Laquinn Damon Hines is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, misdemeanor hit and run, speeding to elude arrest, driving during revocation and wreckless driving. His bond is set at $50,000.
Police say the chase started when they responded to a report of a shootout at 8th and Wooster Streets. It ended a few blocks away after police say the car Hines was driving and a police cruiser each crashed into trees near 6th and Dock Streets.
