WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fall means football season, but cool weather is not an excuse to stay inside. That’s the message from the Carolina Panthers and the National Football League.

The Panthers Junior Training Camp is visiting area school this week.

This morning at Sunset Park elementary in Wilmington, students got some professional tips and passed around the pigskin. It’s part of the NFL Play 60 movement. It encourages kids to be active for at least 60 minutes a day to stay healthy.

“Besides the fact that there’s a lot of kids that end up sitting at home playing video games all day nowadays, I know that I was like that a little bit in school, and getting out and playing at least 60 minutes a day will at least get them energy,” said Jack Daley with the Panthers Community Relations Department. “It helps get them playing sports or whatever it might be out there in the community, so it gets them more active in the community.”

The Panthers will hold another camp tomorrow at Alderman Elementary.
