BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The holiday season just got a little bit merrier for employees of the Brunswick County school system. The board of education voted Tuesday to give all eligible employees a one-time bonus.
All employees who are eligible for retirement and health benefits who were employed with the county before September 1st of this year will receive a $1,000 bonus. Permanent part-time employees will get $500, and eligible employees who started after September 1st will see $250 added to their paychecks. The bonuses will go out on the December 20th payroll.
The money comes from the school system’s reserve account, which has seen an increase in revenue due to sales tax refunds, fines, and federal reimbursements.
