Stolen shotgun recovered during New Year’s Eve traffic stop

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office says it ended 2011 by catching a man with a stolen shotgun.

A deputy pulled Jimmy Dwayne Shaw over near Clarkton around 10:30 p.m. Saturday for having a headlight that was not working. Shaw told the deputy that there was a shotgun in the vehicle.

The shotgun was run through a database, where it had been entered as stolen in December 2010.

Shaw, 33, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and driving while impaired. He was released from the Bladen County Jail after posting an $11,000 secured bond.
