North Carolina Jazz Festival kicks off downtown


Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — The stars of the music world came out Thursday night for the 32nd annual North Carolina Jazz Festival at the Hilton Riverside, downtown.

WWAY’s Chris Phillips got to kick off the event again this year and then it was on with the music. Wilmington native Grenoldo Frazier, winner of the Black Arts Alliance 2011 Living Legend Award started the evening off with a tribute to Nat King Cole.

The Jazz All-stars featuring musicians from across the country and international stars will rotate to deliver different sounds and jazz styles.

The Jazz Festival will play Friday and Saturday nights. WWAY is a proud sponsor of this event.
