WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Animal Control says the fourth case of rabies this year in the county has been confirmed.

Friday Animal Control was called to pick up a raccoon that had fought with two dogs. The dogs were handled afterward by several family members, which resulted in potential exposure for them. The dogs did have a current rabies vaccination. The raccoon was transported to the State Lab, where officials confirmed the virus Monday.
