CFCC students take top honors at interior design contest

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Three Cape Fear Community College students swept a regional competition with their interior design skills.

The competitors had the task of designing a house, which would hypothetically be based in Raleigh, for at-risk children. Each submission was judged on more than 100 individual and specific criteria.

Three CFCC students placed first, second and third in the 2012 Otto Zenke Student Design Competition.

“I’m just really happy and grateful that I took home first and really appreciative of the school for helping me get to that level,” contest winner Justin Nixon said, “And thanks to ASID for even giving me the opportunity to compete.”

CFCC’s interior design program is a two-year associate degree program that is designed to expose students to the basic skills of interior design.
