ROCKY MOUNT, NC (AP) — The final televised debate of the North Carolina governor’s race may be Democrat Walter Dalton’s last big chance to point out differences with Republican Pat McCrory that Dalton argues will turn voters to him.
McCrory and Dalton were expected to participate in Wednesday night’s hour-long gubernatorial debate on the North Carolina Wesleyan College campus in Rocky Mount. The pair already met in two debates this month.
Dalton has acknowledged being behind in the race but says he can make up ground. The sitting lieutenant governor says the former Charlotte mayor would support bad policies promoted by the GOP-led Legislature and special interests. McCrory contends Dalton is part of the network of insiders that’s left the state economy and government foundering.
Wednesday’s debate is airing across the state.
