WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For some people, it takes them years to find their true passion life. That’s not the case for Britt Harrison. The 24-year-old finds her joy in painting unique works of art.
Among the nature in the backyard of the beach home where Harrison lives, one will find brush strokes and a young woman full of artistic expression.
The recent UNCW grad has had an affinity for art for as long as she can remember. She calls it the joy of her life. “I remember taking classes as a young girl and just finding it kind of the best way to communicate to my parents.”
Naturally, Harrison focused her studies on Art but not entirely. She says learning about psychology has had a great impact on her work.
“I think it was really good for me to step away and focus on theory and really get some intriguing ideas that I can work with and that’s where this idea has actually stemmed from,” Harrison said.
These days, Harrison finds inspiration for her creations often times while outdoors, whether out for a run or walking the beach.
“I’ll go out and bring my camera and take some high-detailed images of sticks and leaves on a pathway or what washes up on the shore,” Harrison said.
The young artist says her work isn’t just about being pleasing to eye but having a unique idea or concept behind the painting.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, for Harrison, it’s also worth a thousand smiles.
You can check out Harrison’s work at her debut exhibit at Caprice Bistro in downtown Wilmington. Her pieces will hang through February.
