Quintiles Marathon Weekend sets registration record

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) -– Organizers of the 4th annual Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon and Half Marathon presented by Landfall Realty on behalf of the community announced today that 3,000 runners have registered for the Full Marathon, Marathon Relay and Half Marathon. 2,800 individual registrations have been filled with and additional 200 registrations for the Marathon Relay. Organizers have added the Wrightsville Beach 5K and Eli’s 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, March 16. The new events will push the weekend participant total to an estimated 4,000 registrations. That would more than double the 1,900 total registrations for the inaugural events in 2010.

“The popularity and growth of this event weekend is a fantastic trend for everyone involved including the residents of the Cape Fear region,” stated Tom Clifford, Event Director. “The growth of registrations and events raise more funds for area and national charities. Growth also increases the positive economic impact for the surrounding communities which is enormous.”
