Gov. McCrory orders lowering of flags to honor Marines killed in Nevada


    CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Governor Pat McCrory ordered United States and North Carolina flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on April 23 on state facilities in honor of the seven U.S. Marines who were killed, and those wounded, as part of a training exercise on March 18, 2013, at Nevada’s Hawthorne Army Depot.

    “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the seven Marines based out of Camp
    Lejeune who tragically lost their lives last month,” Governor McCrory said in the release. “I will attend a memorial service at Camp Lejeune Tuesday morning to recognize their dedication and sacrifice in protecting our freedom,” he said.
