Political strategist stabbed in Raleigh home dies

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — A Democratic political strategist stabbed in her Raleigh home has died.

Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Wednesday that 31-year-old Jonathan Broyhill has been arrested. Broyhill had been charged with attempted murder prior to the death of 29-year-old Jameson Kirk Hahn at WakeMed.

Sughrue said the department would seek to have that charge withdrawn and present “probable cause for an arrest warrant charging him with murder.”

Broyhill is accused of stabbing Hahn and her husband, 29-year-old Nation Richard Hahn, at their home Monday evening. A wedding announcement in a South Carolina newspaper listed Broyhill as the best man at the couple’s wedding in April 2009.

A memorial service is planned for Jameson Hahn on Saturday in Raleigh.
