CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A holiday tradition in southeastern North Carolina will not hit the water this year.
Organizers have cancelled the annual Island of Lights Christmas Flotilla scheduled for Saturday night because of a lack of entries.
“We feel it would be unfair to the public to brave the elements to see the only 2 boats that registered,” read a statement on the Island of Light’s website. “Please remember next year to get your boat entered early so that we may continue this tradition.”
Organizers say all other planned events will go on as scheduled throughout December.
