Ashley High to name Jeff Turner as new head football coach on Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — 2014 was a season to forget for the Ashley High School football team. The Screaming Eagles did not win a game. Two weeks ago head coach Mike Propst stepped down. It didn’t take long for Ashley to find a replacement for Propst. The Screaming Eagles will introduce Jeff Turner as their new head football coach tomorrow morning at a news conference at the school at 11am.

Jeff Turner joined the Hoggard High football coaching staff in 2004 as an assistant coach. He’s been the defensive coordinator since 2005. We’ll have more information on Friday. On Thursday afternoon coach Turner told WWAY he likes the challenge ahead of him. “I’d like to change the culture at Ashley. Building a program will be a challenge that I look forward to.”
