Jeff Turner named Ashley head football coach

WILMINGTON, NC (ASHLEY RELEASE FROM AD ROY TURNER) — As the search committee went through the process of selecting a new head football coach, we wondered how we could honor the past and prepare for the future and the answer was very clear, “Rip off the rear view mirror” and take advantage of the opportunity we have by hiring Jeff Turner as our new football coach. He understands the steps in building a successful program and the work involved in the process of maintaining success year in and year out. Coach Turner said, “The journey will not be easy, but it will be worth it in the end. Today is the day to start our journey to success.”

On Friday after being named head coach Jeff Turner told WWAY that it will be a challenge to build the football at Ashley. “It’s been over a decade with only winning season since the inception of the school in 2001.” Turner said. “It’s something that intriguing in trying to build that could be special. That was what brought me there where it something you can build from the ground up and it provides a lot of excitement for that community.” Jeff Turner has been the defensive coordinator at rival Hoggard High School in Wilmington since 2005.
