RALEIGH, NC (AP) – A Durham man has claimed his share of a winning Carolina Cash 5 ticket.
The North Carolina Education Lottery says the winning ticket was purchased Aug. 8 and was set to expire Feb. 4.
A statement from the lottery says the ticket was purchased at a Quik Chek in Asheboro and matched all five balls in the drawing. The man says he was driving to South Carolina and stopped at the store to buy gas and bought the ticket worth $173,578.
The missing ticket was one of three that matched all five numbers in the drawing to split a $520,734 jackpot. Two shares were won by players in Greenville and Fayetteville.
Meanwhile, one of two million-dollar winners on a Powerball ticket in the Jan, 3 drawing has come forward.
