SHALLOTTE, NC(WWAY)–According to DSG Principal Consultant Don Schjeldahl’s research Shallotte has beat out other Brunswick County towns as the best place for a craft brewery.
Shallotte Mayor Walter Eccard says the land off of the Shallotte river has so much potential. “In 2008 we began planning for a revitalization of the downtown Shallotte. The key to that was developing our under developed waterfront.”
Standing outside on the property where the riverwalk is planned to go, Mayor Eccard says this area would be the perfect place for a craft brewery.
“Any area here could be great for the brewery because it can be really close to the riverwalk where people can go right from the riverwalk to the craft brewery,” Eccard said.
In Schjeldahl’s presentation he names Shallotte’s two major projects, the riverwalk and the new recreation park, and the town’s open land as the keys to bringing in craft beer breweries.
