WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Spring is in sight, with just a few more weeks of winter left. For many, warmer weather means it's time to tee off, even for some young children in the Cape Fear.

The Wilmington Junior Golf Academy is a year-round program that works to teach kids life skills through sports. But the best part about this organization is it's absolutely free for any child in the area.

The programs that go on throughout the year use golf as a vehicle to help children understand the true values of life, in hopes to make young people more grounded, productive and inspired to be who they want to become. Though the organization offers programs all year long, some special camps and fundraisers are right around the corner.

Executive Director Jake Hunt stopped by Good Morning Carolina to tell viewers all about the program's efforts, and what kind of events the community can take part in. Watch the full interview for more information, or click here to check out the organization's website.
