Freezing Rain Advisory issued for Columbus and Bladen counties

Wilmington NC (WWAY)– The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory from Midnight until 11AM Sunday for Columbus and Bladen counties. Areas of light rain are expected to develop late tonight into tomorrow in southeast North Carolina as moisture moves northward. Cold high pressure to the north is supplying the cold air into the region. As the rain moves into the area, temperatures inland are expected to dip close to freezing. Therefore, some of the rain could change over to freezing rain causing a light glaze on some surfaces, including bridges and overpasses. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the morning tomorrow causing any ice to melt. If you have plans to travel in the advisory areas, please use caution and watch out for any slick spots.
