WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators say a convenience store manager is facing felony cocaine charges after he ran from the scene during an Alcoholic Beverage Control inspection.
ALE agents say Stephen Fennel, 28, is facing charges including felony possession of cocaine and resisting an officer.
Investigators say the ALE agent was working with a New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office ABC deputy conducting a routine inspection at the New York Mini Mart on Nixon Street Tuesday when the agent noticed a book bag and asked who owned it. The agent says Fennel picked up the bag, started walking toward the door and then ran.
Officials say the officers caught Fennel and found about five grams of cocaine, assorted drug paraphernalia and a handgun magazine with .45 caliber rounds.
