WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s serene, calm and tranquil. It’s everything you would want in a garden, especially as a patient. And you can visit it on this weekend’s Azalea Garden Tour.
The Lower Cape Fear Hospice developed an acre of land into the Heritage Garden. There are bridges, a waterway, a labyrinth, even an aroma garden. They are all in three interlocking circles.
The garden is open to the public, but serves a much greater purpose.
“When (patients) can come outside and just get some strength and go back in and face what they have to face,” VP of Development Laurie Taylor said, “that’s why we put this here.”
Taylor says the garden you are in gives something back. Every moment counts for patients and families fighting time.
The Cape Fear Garden Club’s Azalea Garden Tour runs Friday through Sunday around Wilmington.
