WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The weather wasn’t the best Saturday morning for the Azalea Festival Parade, but that didn’t stop thousands of people from heading to downtown Wilmington.
Organizers say the parade is one of southeastern North Carolina’s largest annual event with over 100,000 viewers each year.
The parade had floats, marching units and bands, clowns and horses, all highlighted by visiting celebrities, queen azalea and her court, and the azalea festival princess.
The event even had folks traveling hours to attend.
Chris Parker said this was his first time attending the parade, “but I drove all the way from Raleigh to be here and hope to have a lot of fun.”
In case you missed the parade coverage, the New Hanover County TV channel will re-air the parade at 10 pm on Wednesday (4/15).
