WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The fight for UNCW Track continued this weekend with a fundraiser for the team at PT’s Old Fashioned Grille.

10% of proceeds from food sales went toward the campsign to save the university’s track and field teams. The popular eat spot helped raise money at all 6 locations throughout the area. At lunchtime, the location on Military Cutoff was booming with customers.

Assistant Manager Donald Lewis said that PT’s has teamed up with the school before and that this was another great opportunity to help out local students.

“I mean kids need sports you know. So we’re all about helping out. Our owner here actually attended UNCW for biology so you know he’s definitely all about supporting UNCW,” said Lewis.

Lewis said he hopes that today’s event will really help out student athletes.

According to the Save UNCW Track website, as of last Thursday the group had already raised about $150,000 of their $250,000 goal.
