BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — A possible bond referendum for the 2016 election is on the agenda tonight for the Brunswick County School Board.
The meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Bolivia, will touch on the referendum. As WWAY reported last month, school leaders say they need more than $170 million to cover costs in capital projects. Brunswick County voters have not approved a school bond since 1999, and that was for $89 million.
The district says the county gets about $800,000 a year from the North Carolina Education Lottery. This is far from what is needed for the district’s capital needs, leaders said.
The meeting will be held in the County Commissioners’ Chambers at the David R. Sandifer Administration Building.
