WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fred Lynch and Ruby Sutton answered questions from rapper Bow Wow Monday night. Quate McKinzie captured the slam dunk contest. Three NBA players even made an appearance, but Bow Wow stole the show when he put his groove on at Laney High School.
It was all part of the opening ceremony for the Fred Lynch Invitational, which included NBA Jordan Brand players Cody Zeller, Bismack Biymombo and Greg Monroe, as well as the first look at the renovation, sponsored by Jordan Brand, of Laney’s Michael Jordan Gymnasium.
The Fred Lynch Invitational tipped off Monday at six different locations in New Hanover County. 50 high school basketball teams are competing in the three day event.
In 2012 Laney boys basketball coach Nathan Faulk started the Fred Lynch Invitational in honor of his predecessor as head coach. The 2015 event will feature 50 high school teams from around the state.
