RALEIGH, NC (AP) – Another potential Democratic challenger to North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr is saying no to a bid to unseat the Republican next year.
Democratic state Sen. Josh Stein of Raleigh said Tuesday he’s not running for the US Senate.
Stein told The Associated Press in a short interview says some people have been talking to him about the idea in the wake of former US Sen. Kay Hagan’s decision against trying to return to the Senate. Stein says he has other plans for 2016 that he’ll be talking about shortly.
Stein has been considering a potential run for attorney general.
National Democrats are looking to recruit someone to challenge Burr. State Treasurer Janet Cowell also has reaffirmed her plans to run for her current job again in 2016.
